This was the most dramatic proposal that never got off the drawing
board. A massive 11 1/2 acre site was envisaged for 'Ladywell
Centre'. This was to contain flats, maisonettes, shopping and
entertainments.
A large part of the proposed site did eventually get developed as the
Arcadian Centre in the 1980's, but that was mostly shopping and
entertainments. The section to the east of Pershore Street never
got developed as planned with a large part of it becoming the new home
of the
Indoor Market
when the new Bullring was built at the turn of the millenium.
Site of project 10, June 1973.
