"Birmingham New Street Station Through Time"
My third book was published by
Amberley
Publishing in mid-September 2013. It was inspired by many of
my father's photographs of New Street Station taken between 1947 and
1965. However, to tell the full story I needed the help of many
others and they are all acknowledged on the final page. The book
starts with the building of Curzon Street Station and tries to cover
the whole history to date, and into the future thanks to artists
impressions provided by Network Rail. I will admit that some of
the pictures have been published in my other books or in '
D J Norton's Pictorial Survey of the
West Midlands', but they are included in this book to help
illustrate the passage of time. There are many unpublished
pictures from other sources. I like to think of the book as a
local history book about a railway station rather than a railway book,
but I'm sure many of the pictures will be of interest to rail fans.
The ISBN number is 978 1 4456 1095 5 and it retails at
£14.99 in paperback cover. As well as being available
direct from
Amberley,
it's also on
Amazon.
