| My father
was a very keen amateur astronomer so it's no surprise that he took an
interest in the construction of the first radio telescope at Jodrell
Bank. This picture, and the one below, was taken from a train
during one of his trips to Manchester. |

| By the time
this picture was taken, the telescope had been in operation for a
couple of years. Today it is know as the Lovell Telescope. Jodrell Bank Discovery Centre is open to the public. I'm sure my father would have loved to have paid the centre a visit! |
