Peter Walker R.I.P.
Just before Christmas 2010, I learnt of the death of Peter
Walker.
Peter was very knowledgeable about the history of Birmingham and was
very supportive in the early days of this website's existence. He
provided a fascinating article about the
Inner Ring Road project and
extensive notes for the
Tram pictures.
I was lucky enough to meet him on three occasions, including his 75th
birthday at the Old Contemptibles and thus got to enjoy a ride on an
old Corporation bus.

Transport Museum, 5th July 2008
If you read
these
tributes, you'll get a feel for how well Peter was thought of by
those with similar interests. The forum on which he posted many
articles has started a project to ensure that his notes remain readable
and accessible for years to come.
The
Peter Walker Archive will become a lasting tribute to someone who
helped inspire me and many others to learn more about the history of
Birmingham. Peter will be sadly missed but he will live on
through the knowledge he shared with us all.
